I can never just read the books as the books anymore. I'm either reading them for research for my epic generation-spanning timeline project of doom, or I'm reading them as a character or group of characters - as a sort of character study. A few weeks ago, a friend of mine pointed out that I was reading Dante for fun and Harry Potter for research. 'Twas amusing.
It's exactly what it says on the tin. XD A timeline, with lots of associated footnotes, calendars, charts, and backstories, detailing the birth, marriage, death, and other important life events of every person at Hogwarts (and some others) from 1812 to 1998. Since so many of my fanfictions focus on time travel and its effects, or require a thorough knowledge of who is doing what at all times, I thought it would be useful to write it all down. Little did I know what I was getting myself into. It's pretty ridiculous.
