Moved Posts

Hi!

I have noticed that some of you are getting possessed by futuristic Muggles and not moving over to the OOC boards.    SO....I'm going to do it for you.

I really want to keep OOC out of the regular posts.   I think it makes things seem more real, which I think makes things more fun.

Please forgive me for being anal!

OOC: I won't say the name of the book I'm reading, but it is possibly THE most boring historical novel ever written. I cannot read more than 3-4 pages without falling asleep, so it's taking me ages to get through because it's about 600 pages long (normally, I finish books in 2-3 days, maybe 4-5 if a book is especially long). Yes, I should have stopped reading it weeks ago - I realized before I hit page 200 that it was a complete and utter waste of time - but I figured that, because I was so far into it, I may as well keep going. Honestly, I don't know why I keep reading the darned thing except out of sheer stubbornness. Woo hoo, only 200 more pages and I'll be done, so, at this rate I'll wrap it up in 50-67 days. Heaven help me.

Meanwhile, my stack of more interesting, readable books keeps calling to me from the bookshelf.

Aoife,

I hope you don't hate me for moving your post.

Although you could move it back and just delete the OOC part. I'm sure wizards are capable of reading boring books!

I'm very much like you when it comes to stubbornness about quitting books.

So, are you sure you can't tell us what book you're reading? I'm curious!

...But Hitler, Grindelwald... Heck, even Dumbledore was a bit of a manipulative bastard before he died. (OCC: And in his childhood)They all failed. Good almost always conquers, right? I don't know, I'm probably just a delusional 16-year-old. :(

I'm reading Odysseus by James Joyce. I need to quit reading it and not be so stubborn but it's on the list and I want the nerd cred.

OOC: Salt licorice is quite popular in Scandinavia. My former boss brought some back after going there one Christmas. I couldn't eat it! Ech!

The Real Me said...

Aoife,

I tried the salt liquorice once. I didn't hate it, but it was definitely not something I'd buy again!

(OOC: Sorry about my recent absence. Had a wicked spring virus that knocked me flat. Have been catching up at MIM, now catching up here.)

I'm sorry you were sick...yuck. I'm guessing you're feeling better, so I'm glad about that!

I hope you don't mind that I've moved your posts.

No worries, Alex. I understand about wanting to maintain the purity of the role playing posts. BTW, I FINALLY finished that book I mentioned above, "A Generation of Leaves" by Robert Bloom. Wish I had read the professional reviews on Amazon before starting reading because I would have skipped it. It's one of those books whose author I admire for his research and ability to write the book, but I didn't enjoy reading it. I guess I need to look at the fact that I learned about a historical mystery and new info about historical figures ... and I only paid 50 cents for the book at my local library, so no big loss.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the book. I spend too much time reading books I don't enjoy. You know what...seeing you guys talk about this has made me realize what a waste of time it is. So I've made a rule to stop doing it. If I don't like a book after two chapters, I'm going to try to quit.

However, since making that decision, I haven't been tested yet. The first book I applied the rule to is so far fantastic.

Anyway, there are so many great books out there. We'll never be able to read them all (unless reincarnation proves to be true or we get bitten by a vampire). If I read books I don't like, I'm taking away from time I could be reading books that I love.

OOC: I know this post will get moved and that's totally fine, but I want it seen.

Can I remind everyone to please stay on cannon? Rowling has given us an amazing and expansive world to play in. Adding off cannon things is just silly when there is so much that can be done with the world Rowling wrote. In the grand scheme of things, our characters are not spectacular or the chosen one. They probably don't have any amazing, spectacular powers. You make them special by developing their personalities, much like JK did with Ron, Harry, Hermione, Neville, and Luna. If Albus Dumbledore didn't do it then an off cannon character certainly can't.

Sorry if this is out of line, and you disagree Alex, feel free to delete this post. I won't be offended or upset at all. Your website, your rules.

The Real Me said...

Are you talking about the flying, or something else? You're right about the flying though. I totally got confused with True Blood and the flying Eric vampire.

Yeah. I think we should stick to Cannon...although there is the chance that since Muggle abilities vary, there could be anomalies in the wizarding world.

Proud Mudblood, could we say you're an Animigus? Would that work for everyone? You could turn into a bird and fly to Australia. Or maybe you're part vampires? Do Rowling vampires fly?

I don't know. Alex is a Muggle who created a website for wizards. That's not exactly Cannon.

Honestly, I'm fine either way.

I'll keep this conversation here until the morning, and then I'm going to move it over to the moved posts.

You know, if we can't agree on the flying...we can all just imagine what we want. Proud Mudblood can imagine he flew over, and those who think that doesn't fit can imagine he took a Qantas flight.

Sorry I ment that I was an Animigus. I do turn into a bird.

Wonderful. I love birds : )

Alex, I'm not able to leave a comment on your new "out to sea" post (tried in three different browsers). Looks like you've been having tech problems the last day or two. Perhaps verbally threatening your computer will help ...

The Real Me said...

That is WEIRD. Well, the stuff earlier was part of the game. But the comment thing....I don't know. I've never had that happen before. I'll try to repost and see if that helps.

I'm beginning to think I'm haunted by these characters. The other day Julia was furious. When she's furious, things go wacky in their little fictional world. Well, that day we had all these little mishaps in our (real) kitchen...including a small fire in our oven.

The Real Me said...

I think it's working now.

Aoife said...

Yep, it's working now. I figured most of the other stuff was part of the game (e.g., the "Don't Threaten Me" heading), but the text was really small yesterday, which made me wonder about tech problems.

Julia needs to get that temper under control before something more serious happens! Was she angry on Sunday, by any chance? Just asking because I cut a finger quite badly while cooking, which I've never done before. Could be one of her virtual fits of temper distorted the atmosphere over the Midwestern U.S. :)

The Real Me said...

Yikes! Yes, it was Sunday. Sorry about your finger. I think we should totally blame Julia. The girl is out of control. Or WAS out of control. I think she'll be on her way to recovery now. All of us Muggles can feel safe in our kitchens again.

I hope your finger is healing.

The Real Me said...

Never mind.

Our stuff happened on Monday, not Sunday. I get my days confused a lot! Sorry.

Aoife said...

Hmm, Julia must've been mad on Wednesday, too, because I set my wok on fire last night (so I threw it out in the front yard in the rain). Lol, maybe I should just stay out of the kitchen!

The Real Me said...

Do you watch Modern Family by chance? Because my feelings towards your wok episode remind me of the episode last night? I feel concerned about you and this wok mishap, but at the same time I can't help but laugh. And I'm trying to picture you throwing this wok out in the rain. Did you just run with it, open the door, and throw it out there? I'm guessing this plan worked. Pretty quick thinking on your part. It does sound like something in a comedy movie. Glad you're safe though...as well as your home.

As for Julia. She wasn't mad anymore by Wednesday. We'll have to blame another witch...or wizard.

Aoife said...

No, I haven't seen Modern Family, but I may have to. Yep, I whipped open the door, grabbed the wok, ran out into the rain with it and flung it onto lawn, where it stayed overnight (I have a fire extinguisher in the kitchen but didn't think of that, lol). I usually don't have kitchen mishaps, but, for the first time in my life, I'm using an electric stove/oven and am having difficulty getting used to it. I've scorched SO much food, but this is the first time I've ever destroyed a pot/pan.

The Real Me said...

Oh no!!

But that was smart/fast thinking on your part. Hopefully you'll get used to the electric stove eventually.

So why did you switch to electric? Did you move to a new place?

Aoife said...

Bought my first (and hopefully last) house about a year ago, and the stove/oven is electric, which is unusual around here (Chicago area). Not to be overly dramatic, but I almost got nailed by a big honkin' 4 foot oak branch this weekend while doing yard work. So I need to stay out of the kitchen AND the yard, lol.

The Real Me said...

Oh crap. I think I'm going to have to start worrying about you!

Try to stay safe!!

Your real life may be more hazardous than your wizardly life.

OOC: (I know how you feel about being out of character Alex, but I need you guys to see this.)

I feel so priviledged to have been able to spend this time with all of you. I've loved every second of it, and I have to say, you are all amazing and I'll miss all of you. Maybe we could keep posting about our characters' lives on this blog?

Anyway, I had to let you know before this ended.

(Also, Alex, I know you'll move this, I just had to put it here.)

OOC: I must second Mia.
I guess this is goodbye.
I learned about this through Mugglenet and have made tons of friends!

I too have made many friends, Athena, Mia, & Neely espacially. I have long admired Louisa Parkinson & Triss Desceteaux. And have come to enjoy talking with Grace, Emily, Gates, and many more.

I have had tons of fun arguing with Ike, Rawson, and many more.

Thank you, Miss Muggle Bug, for making this site, where I can get even more in depth with the story.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!
This has been one of the best experiences of my life!!!!

OOC: Whoops.. forgot a couple names... this'll take forever!
Alex, you've been a great friend, Aoife, JULIA, and everybody else! I have truly loved my time with y'all!

The Real Me said...

It's been so wonderful meeting all of you!

I might bring Alex and Julia back once in awhile to post something. If any of you are ever interested, you're welcome to keep your characters alive here as well : )
