RebellionWrock

Will any of you be attending the concert?    I doubt I'm going to be there.

So...this is what happened with my family yesterday.

My dad keeps up with all the wizarding newspapers and propaganda rags as well.    He read about the concert and told my sister.    She was so excited because she thought my dad was saying we were all going back to the UK to see the concert.   She thought it would be a chance to see her friends.   She was very upset when she found out the concert was online, because she thinks the internet is ridiculous.

My sister was crying, and she was all angry.   Dad tried to comfort her.   We both tried to explain how dangerous England is right now.   It's not that she doesn't know; she's not completely ignorant.   I think she's just kind of in denial.

Anyway, finally we convinced her to give the online concert a chance.   She calmed down a bit.   We all planned to do the concert.   Then my mum came in and said no....we're not.   She thinks the rebellion has fallen, and that the rebellion we're seeing is really made up of death eaters.   Dad laughed at that and my sister rolled her eyes.   My mum's response?   Remember the Defence Against Dark Arts professor in your fourth year?!

None of us had a good argument against that.   Personally, I think the rebellion is the real rebellion.   I don't think they've been taken over by Death Eaters.    I'm not sure how to convince my mum about that.

I plan to attend at least part of the concert. It'll be wonderful to hear my favorite bands and the familiar voices of friends and Rebels. I've been on the run so long and alone so much of the time that I can hardly remember anymore what normal life, life before Moldyvort, was like. I'll be able to pretend for a few hours that I'm back with my family or with my friends at Hogwarts, as it was under Dumbledore.

Aolfe, please keep the name of you-know-who and all parodies of it off of here. Many of us are trying to avoid detection and, as you know, the name is being tracked. As for the parodies, you-know-who is not a laughing matter. Because of him hundreds of us are hiding, wounded, even dead. This is nothing to laugh about.

Sometimes the only way to face adversity without losing sanity and seeking into a deep depression is to have a dark sense of humor about these things.

Too many people have died and maybe one small way we can fight back is by giving you-know-who the disrespect he deserves.

SC, you-know-who's minions murdered my parents, and I've dedicated my life since then to helping those being oppressed and hunted by Death Eaters and the Ministry, so I regularly witness and contend with the best and worst extremes of human emotion and behavior. Believe me, I know full well how serious the situation is. Muggle Bug is right - having a dark sense of humor is the only way I can get through this. If I didn't laugh, I wouldn't be able to stop crying, then I'd be of no use to the Rebellion or anyone else.

Muggle Bug is also right about about giving you-know-who the disrespect he deserves. He's a bullying, manipulative, cruel, vicious murderer; therefore, he deserves no respect whatsoever. He deserves to be mocked and ridiculed; thus, the reason I use a parody of his name.

I completely understand and respect your concern about using you-know-who's name here. Keep in mind that Muggle Bug who runs this site told us, when giving directions to get here, that we could use you-know-who's name as much as we like. She wouldn't have said this if she hadn't first made sure that powerful protective cloaking spells had been cast around the site to prevent detection. Several Order members tested the spells to make absolutely sure they worked, so we're safe to speak freely here.

Aolfe, I feel so guilty. Please forgive me. I thought my sister could do that kind of spell. Foolish of me because she can barely wave her wand without poking herself in the eye. My sister waved her wand around a few times and said some incantations but she may have been just messing with my head. She likes to do that.

I don't have faith that there are good protective charms here, so we should probably avoid saying you-know-what. I do kind of believe we're safe for now because this site was created far from England. I have said the name in the cabin when talking to my dad, and no snatcher has come to grab us. I'm thinking maybe the tracing thing doesn't reach across the whole planet....at least not yet.

I would still avoid saying the name though. I would feel so horrible if something happened to one of you because of my stupidity and false advertising.

Also...SC Mather has made me feel a little paranoid now. I think I'm going to stop saying the name when talking in our cabin.

It's not worth the risk.

I just remembered that someone came here pretending to be you-know-who, and I used his name when responding to him. Nothing happened. So maybe my sister's charms did work!

No. On second though...I doubt that. I think it's a matter of distance. My guess is eventually you-know-who will realize many have scattered around the world. The trace might be expanded. I'm going to try and watch my mouth and my typing fingers. I suggest everyone else do the same.

We're going to be okay regardless. We would be saving Potter and Granger, spreading the word, and taking down the ministry if we weren't. I don't think Voldie would want to destroy himself, do you? Also, I'm going to the concert, I think I'll be great! Just imagine hearing all those soon to be banned bands!

This is the first I've heard of this concert, but I'll certainly watch. Which DADA professor is she talking about - Quirrell or Moody? I suppose it could apply to Lupin as well, actually.

Miss Muggle Bug said...

Icarus, I assumed she meant Moody, but I could be wrong. I'll go ask Julia what teacher she had in her fourth year.

I'm positive though that my mom wasn't referring to Lupin. She would never say anything negative towards werewolves or vampires.

I wouldn't want anyone to be caught or killed because of my actions, so to help ensure everyone's safety here I won't use what's-his-face's real name. I will, however, continue to demonstrate my disrespect for him in any and every possible way.
