I asked Julia if she felt weird. She said no. I asked if she felt a bit depressed. She said yes, but I've been feeling that way for the past few months. I guess she has a good point there. This hasn't been the happiest of times.
Well, what do you do when things are not happy? You buy sweets, of course! Drown your sorrow in sugar. That's my philosophy. Well, unless you're diabetic. Hey, do wizards get diabetes, or is that just a Muggle thing?
Anyway, we went to this very cute food shop, and bought lots of Muggle goodies, including some stuff to remind us of home.
I figure since some of you might not be familiar with Muggle treats, I'd post a few photos.
First let me show you something disgusting. My dad thought we should try them. He thinks they're fantastic. I think he's nuts. They're candy that taste like perfume.
Eating this made me think that maybe Pureblood wizards have a point when they look down at Muggles. I'm joking, of course. But really. They taste awful!
This is my new favourite thing. My mum says we had them once when I was really young. I don't remember. They're cute little pink biscuits.
We bought this chocolate bar, but haven't eaten it yet. It looks nice.
Here's one of my old favourites.
My dad bought me a bunch. It makes me feel less homesick. Julia asked what he'd buy HER so she'd be less homesick. That made me sad. I think she misses her wizard candy. She had some, but we've run out. I feel bad because I might have been a bit too helpful in eating it. Julia, if you're reading this. I'm sorry!!!
This is my mum's favourite chocolate bar. We bought a bunch for her.
They had a small selection of sweets from the states. I really wanted to get some, but my mum says they were way overpriced. They had Pop Tarts!!!!! You probably have no idea what I'm talking about. It's a shame because Pop Tarts are divine. We had an American neighbour when we were young. Daphne would have all these American foods, and she'd give us Pop Tarts. Then she moved back to the states. I'm not sure what we missed more; Daphne or her Pop Tarts?
Back to the Dementor thing...just in case they're around, we've decided to get Julia to practice the whole Patronus thing. Wish us luck. I've heard it's nearly impossible to do.

Potter is Best,
Thank you! So what are your favourite wizarding world sweets? Have you ever tried any Muggle candy?
I swear I'd sell my soul for a pumpkin pasty right about now.
I just got back from sneaking into a muggle town for a few hours. One thing that makes this all easier is knowing basic muggle customs. Anyways, I did get myself a little treat: a cadberry cream egg. I swear I lived on those things as a kid.
Pop Tarts or Daphne. Wow, Alex. That's a tough question.
And you're right. You were a bit too helpful in eating my candy. I have a secret stash though. I might share some if you're extra nice to me.
Sc Mather: Pumpkin Pasty. Yum. My mum makes them sometimes. Julia says they're not as good as the ones she had in the wizarding community. I love Cadbury eggs!
Julia: I'll be extra nice!
JULIA,
Where are you? I'll be nice! I'm starving! Sorry for the sudden breakdown. We haven't had anything to eat in days.
Miss Muggle Bug,
My favorite wizard sweets are Chocolate Frogs and Acid Pops. My favorite muggle sweet is Skittles, have you ever tried Skittles?
I would so love a Chocolate Frog right now. Carrows decided we can't go into Hogsmeade, so I can't stock up at Honeydukes. I know you guys have it way hard right now, and I sound selfish, but it's hard being at Hogwarts right now. Sometimes I wish it would all just disappear, at least for a little while.
From the little news I've heard things are pretty bad at Hogwarts as well. Is it true the Carrows have been using Unforgiveables on students? It's hard to believe such atrocities could happen there...
Potter is Best: I'm sorry you're so hungry. I'm worried about you. I hope you find something to eat by the time you read this.
It turns out all Julia had left was some dodgy Bernie Bott's Every Disgusting Flavour of Bean. I said no thank you. I'd invite you to come share our other food (not the beans. I'm not mean). But I'm not allowed to reveal our location. My mum's very strict about that.
Mia: I think you have it worse than us. I've heard horrible things about Hogwarts. I will wish for a chocolate frog to find its way over to you.
SC: I've heard the same. It's unbelievable that this is happening, and that people are allowing it to happen.
SC: Yes, it's true. They've been using troublemakers (like myself) as practice targets for other students to use the Cruciatus curse on.
Miss Muggle Bug, That's okay! We found a nice store stocked up with sweets. We are currently hiding in India. But where in India? That's a secret.
I haven't had many Muggle sweets, besides Peeps, but I do quite like their jelly beans. It's like someone went through and took out all the bad flavours of Bertie Bott's, which, to be honest, seems like common sense to me. I miss some of the flavours, like steak and pumpkin, but the knowledge that I won't have to deal with anything pus-flavoured more than makes up for it.
As for ordinary sweets, I'm fond of Sugar Quills and chocolate cauldrons, as well as anything with toffee.
Potter is Best: I read your comment too fast, and at first I thought you said "Where IS India? That's a secret." I was thinking...you know we Muggles do have maps and globes. We're not THAT backwards.
You have a point though. I guess I can say what country we're in. My mum probably wouldn't mind that. I just don't want to give specifics. You never know who might be reading. You know what I mean?
Icarus Colby: Yeah. I think you're right. It was clever that the Muggles took away the gross flavoured beans. I really want to try Peeps!
I never had a Sugar Quill. Julia refused to share, and ate most before she got back to us. I like chocolate cauldrons.
Mia,
That's terrible! It's a sad day when we ask a bunch of underage kids (no offense) to fight our wars...
Stay strong Mia...and raise some hell...but be as safe as you can.
Potter is Best, I know it's hard to trust anyone right now, but we could put you in contact with an Order operative in India who will get you and your family to a safe house where you won't have to worry about food. Don't say where you are! Have someone in your family send a patronus, if you're interested. Of course, we understand completely if you choose not to, so don't feel like you must.
As for candy, I love caramels, licorice and lemon drops, especially a muggle version called Lemonhead. I know few of you will understand this, but I don't really like chocolate. It's okay and I eat it occasionally, but I wouldn't miss it if I never ate it again. Except for mole poblano, a Mexican sauce that contains chocolate but isn't sweet. Yummy!
Aoife,
I love liquorice! I don't know if I've ever had a lemon drop. Is it a hard candy?
I have a cousin who doesn't like chocolate. We have failed to understand how he could be that way, and have ended all communications. We can't bother with people who don't like chocolate.
I'm joking...of course!
The mole poblano thing sounds really interesting.
Now I have a huge taste for chocolate covered liquorice.
SC: It's tough, but we do our best. Protect the younger ones, and recruit for the DA when we can. We meet and practice, and fight the Carrows. I promise to be careful, protect myself and my little sister, and make the Carrows so mad they won't know what happened.
Mug, yes, lemon drops are hard candy. Of course, I feel compelled to chew them, and I may need to visit a muggle dentist soon to deal with the damage my candy habit does to my teeth! Unfortunately, it looks like the Ministry is controlling St. Mungo's; otherwise, I'd go there for treatment.
Aoife,
Lemon drops sound a bit like sherbet lemons. I wonder if they're the same. ????
I chew them too. My mum is very good at sucking on them for a long time. She's very proud of that talent of hers.
Well, I hope you don't end up having to visit a Muggle dentist!
That's scary about St. Mungo's. What if a wizard gets sick? Are their alternative health centres? I guess you could get Muggle treatment, but I'm doubting that's as effective. And if you have an issue involving magic, it probably wouldn't be helpful or safe to seek Muggle medical help.
Alex, muggle medicine is absolutely barbaric - casts for broken bones, surgery, stitches (!!). This is one of the reasons I wish we could live openly and in harmony with muggle society, so we could share our medical knowledge with them and stop a lot of needless suffering. But most muggles aren't ready to know about the wizarding world.
I would go to a muggle doctor only as a last resort. I'm only willing to consider a muggle dentist because I heard Hermione Granger speak very highly of her parents, both of whom are dentists. If anyone knew where they are, I'd go to them for treatment. I'm very curious about those Z-rays.
Aoife,
Yeah. It would be nice if you guys could help our sick and injured people.
I didn't know Hermione Granger's parents were dentists. Interesting. I wonder if they've treated wizards before...well, besides their own daughter.
I'm guessing her parents are somewhere in London? Or maybe they left like we did. Although I heard Hermione was with Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. I can't really imagine her parents leaving her behind. So maybe they're still in London. Hopefully you can find them...if needed.
Oh, Merlin, Muggle medicine. I used to have nightmares about that as a kid. There are Muggles whose only job is to cut people open - urrgh. Don't they cut holes in people's skulls to 'let out the devil' or something? I really hope you don't need to go to a 'doctor,' Aoife.
